Santos president Jose Carlos Peres has explained selling Rodrygo Goes to Real Madrid.

The young attacker left Santos for Real Madrid in 2019 and is now a LaLiga and Champions League title winner.

Peres recalled to ABC: "Barcelona, PSG, Bayern, Ajax, BVB all wanted Rodrygo...

"But Real Madrid came in strong and completed this transfer quickly.

"We went for coffee with (Real chief scout) Juni Calafat and closed the Rodrygo deal in 50 minutes."
