Santos chief Andrade admits Liverpool keen on 'new Pele' Angelo Gabriel

Santos sporting director Jorge Andrade has revealed the interest of Liverpool in teenage talent Angelo Gabriel.

The 16-year-old has only been playing professional football for a few months, but the Reds are already monitoring his situation and development.

Angelo followed in the footsteps of Pele, Robinho, Neymar and more at Santos, by becoming the second-youngest debutant in the club's 108-year history.

The forward signed his first professional contract in December last year and is tied to the Brazilian side until December 2023, reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, his deal reportedly has a release clause of €60m, and Andrade has claimed Liverpool have already made their interest in the youngster known.

“Angelo is a boy who has been growing, developing and (the scouts) are certainly watching him," he told Radio Bandeirantes.

Before continuing on Liverpool's interest: “Not only Liverpool but other teams in the European market as well."

Speaking previously, Angelo hasn't hidden his desire to test himself in Europe at some point in his career, and believes England or Spain could be the best landing spot for him.

He said: "I would fit better in La Liga or the Premier League because they are leagues that have a physical game and that require a player to break lines with improvisation, passing and dribbling."
