Davide Santon featured for Newcastle United reserves in their 6-0 thrashing of Norwich City.
Goals from Gosling (2), Greg McDermott, Michael Richardson, Ryan Donaldson and Yven Movo left coach John Carver a satisfied figure.
Carver told the Evening Chronicle: "It was a game played in what seemed like hurricane conditions.
"But everybody did very well and showed a great attitude and great application.
"Norwich, to be fair, had a young side out and we were just too strong for them.
"This though was a productive workout for us.
"Danny Guthrie, Dan Gosling and Davide Santon all got some pitch time and Harps played the whole game so we had a good mix of youth and experience."
