Mario Balotelli could be on his way back to Italy this summer.

The Liverpool striker is a target for Sampdoria who are expected to make a move for his services when the transfer window opens.

24-year old Balotelli joined Liverpool from AC Milan for £16million last summer but has struggled at Anfield, having scored just four goals in 28 appearances in all competitions.

Regardless of this stat, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is determined to lure the former Inter Milan and Manchester City forward to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

"Balotelli at Sampdoria? Should the player come to Italy we would open our doors," he said.
