Sampdoria president Luca Campedelli has welcomed backed Eugenio Corini as new coach.

Corini succeeds Giuseppe Sannino, who was sacked by Chievo this week.

"We felt it was the right decision to make a change and it was equally right to choose Corini," said President Campedelli.

"Corini loves Chievo and never betrayed it. He didn't even turn on Chievo in June when I opted not to keep him in the position and instead chose Sannino."
