Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero is closing on a move to Liverpool today.

Sky Italia says Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to give Simon Mignolet some more competition and sees Romero as an ideal recruit.

A major factor in the deal could be Romero's agent, Mino Raiola, who also represents Liverpool's latest signing Mario Balotelli.
