Samaras: Champions League a great experience for Celtic players

Despite being dumped out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 phase, Celtic players will benefit from the journey according to Georgios Samaras.

The Hoops were beaten 2-0 by Juventus in Turin on Wednesday night to bow out of the competition 5-0 on aggregate but Greek forward Samaras feels the whole journey of this season's European campaign will be of great advantage to the Glasgow club.

"I would say that it was a great experience for all the lads," he told Sky Sports 2. "We're a young team with a lot of talent, and that's an experience we'll learn from.

"I think it was a great journey for everyone in the club, the players, the coaches, staff and supporters, they've enjoyed it from the first second to the last. Next year hopefully we'll be back in the Champions League."

He added: "We're trying really hard all together to be a successful team.

"The highlights of this journey were the two games against Barcelona, the way we played, the heart we showed was something amazing, not only for the players but also the supporters and the club. We'll remember these games for many years."
