Saha: van Gaal deserves credit for Man Utd season

Louis Saha has praised Louis van Gaal for the job he has done in his debut season as Manchester United manager.

The Dutchman has guided the Red Devils back to the Champions League after last campaign's disastrous seventh-place finish and former striker Saha believes it has been a successful opening for van Gaal.

"The objective was to get back into the Champions League," the Frenchman told the Daily Star.

"At the start of the season, it wasn't a formality that this would happen but it has and Louis van Gaal and the players deserve credit for that.

"I would say that the spirit is back now and you can see improvement.

"The young players are confident again and I think next season will be a good one for United.

"True enough Van Gaal had money to spend but the Premier League is tough because there are six or seven teams that can beat you on any given day.

"It is a physical league and it's getting more and more intense.

"It's hard to predict just who will beat who but United look like they will be active in the transfer market again this summer and I can see them enjoying an even better season to come."
