Saha delighted with new Man Utd starting chance

Louis Saha was delighted to start for Manchester United in their 1-0 victory over Roma on Tuesday night.

Major knee problems and a catalogue of muscle injuries mean Saha was starting only his 67th game in nearly three years with the Old Trafford outfit in Tuesday's Champions League win over Roma.

"I hope I will be starting more games from now on," he said.

"My fitness is getting better with every match, I am working hard and I have just been waiting for my chance.

"It is very hard when you are trying to get your confidence back to a certain level and then you get another injury.

"You have to try and build yourself back up again and in the end it becomes as much a mental battle as a physical one.

"But I do feel I have enough strength in both areas to get my form back again and I am not worried about it."

Injuries may still be a concern, especially now Owen Hargreaves is out for a month and Thursday's news that Michael Carrick will be out for up to six weeks with a fractured right elbow, but Saha can see no reason why the Red Devils should not have a major tilt at silverware.

"We have to win more honours," he said. "History shows we are not that great in the Champions League but I believe it is only a matter of time.

"We have the players, we have the manager and we have the fans behind us.

"I am sure it will come. I just hope it will be this season because the main thing for everyone at this club is to win trophies."
