Arrigo Sacchi has urged Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero to maintain a dignified silence to his snub this week by Italy coach Roberto Donadoni.

Former AC Milan and Italy boss Sacchi said: "He must not become a media event, not arrogant or presumptuous. He has always given an image of being very serious - and nice.

"I hope he continues his career always maintaining this style and accepting what the coaches think is best for him and the team."
