Mathew Ryan is determined to instantly become Club Brugge's number one goalkeeper.
The 21-year old Australian goalkeeper recently signed a four-year deal with the Belgian Pro League outfit and is looking to take the reins from Serbian veteran Vladan Kujovic and push ahead of Belgian youngster Sven Dhoest.
"I've been sharing the (preseason) game time with the other keepers and I am pleased with the way things have gone so far," said former Central Coast Mariners star Ryan.
"Being at a new club, you have to come in and work hard and the type of person I am I didn't come half way round the world to not play.
"I have ambitions to be in that starting side when the season kicks off but Vladan had the spot towards the end of last season and it's his to lose.
"Hopefully I can come in and take it off him - sooner rather than later.
"Hopefully I'll get the chance to showcase my attributes and get the nod but if not then I will just keep my head down and battle hard and hope to get a sniff at some stage."
