Real Madrid fans are celebrating Toni Rudiger today after his courageous equaliser in last night's 1-1 draw at Champions League opponents Shakhtar Donetsk.
Rudiger's header, which left him bloodied, came five minutes into injury time.
Real coach Carlo Ancelotti later stated there was a confidence Rudiger's cut was superficial.
Meanwhile, AS's pundit Tomas Roncero said of the former Chelsea defender: "A heroic Rüdiger prevented a blushing defeat for Madrid on a night in which practically nothing came of it.
"But you have to kill Madrid, if not, in Europe they always come back. At the last minute, Rüdiger already had a previous header and left his face in. Amazing what he did. That is Madrid.
"A German connection Kroos - Rüdiger and amazing goal. He broke his face for Madrid. This shows why he came. Madrid has to improve the game a lot in the face of the Clásico.
"It has saved problems for the end of the phase. The round of 16 is now there."
