Rowett agrees to take Birmingham job

Hapless Championship outfit Birmingham City are set to name Gary Rowett new manager.

The Mirror says the Burton Albion boss had mulled over the chance to succeed Lee Clark with the Championship club.

An 8-0 drubbing at the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday, the club's biggest home loss in their 139-year history, had put a bit of doubt in his mind.

But he has now decided the lure of taking over his former side from his playing career was too much to turn down.

Rowett is set to be unveiled at St Andrew's later today.

Ex-Blues striker Paul Peschisolido, who took Rowett to Burton as a coach in 2009, has recommended him to Birmingham chiefs.
