ROUND II? Newcastle defender Burn explains furious Havertz clash: We've had our run-ins

Newcastle defender Dan Burn has explained his post-match bust-up with Kai Havertz after victory over Chelsea.

Chelsea's frustrations came to the fore at the final whistle as players from both teams clashed and had to be separated.

Burns' celebration at the final whistle was at least partially in the direction or vicinity of Havertz, and the German international did not take kindly to it.

Havertz had to be separated from the defender as he ended up in conflict with Jacob Murphy, while Marc Cucurella took his place against Burn and various members of each team began shouting at each other.

Burn explained: "It was the emotion of the game wasn't it? Me and Kai had a few run ins before and it's just part and parcel of the game. It can get the better of you at the times.

"But when you are in that environment and clinging on in stoppage time and wanting to win the game these things happen."

Burn and Havertz also clashed in Chelsea's win at Stamford Bridge in March. Havertz even appeared to catch the defender with an elbow, before scoring the game winner.
