Rooney will quit if Man Utd demand contract pay-cut

Wayne Rooney will demand a move from Manchester United if he is asked to take a pay-cut on his current deal. The Daily Star Sunday says the England striker secured a deal approaching £250,000-a-week after his last United bust-up three years ago. Rooney, 27, now has only two years left on that deal and is seeking a similar contract.

That would not only satisfy him financially but would confirm to the United star that he is still wanted by the Premier League champions.

Rooney also wants United to clarify he did not ask for a transfer at the end of the season - as outgoing boss Sir Alex Ferguson stated.

Fergie's successor David Moyes now has to address the problem with his former Everton player when he officially starts his United reign tomorrow.
