Rooney certain to start in Manchester derby

Wayne Rooney is almost a certain starter for this weekend's Manchester derby.

The 24-year old Manchester United striker has been struggling in the past week or so due to an ankle injury sustained in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich but he has reportedly told Sir Alex Ferguson that he is ready to go.

The Red Devils take on Manchester City in a vital clash they hope to win to keep in touch with league leaders Chelsea who shot four points clear after defeating Bolton on Tuesday night.

According to Ferguson, Rooney's ankle is fine and he will be right to take on City at Eastlands.

"It's not serious and I think he will be ready for the City game," he said.
