Ronaldo leaves before final whistle as Man Utd draw with Rayo Vallecano

Cristiano Ronaldo made his return to action in Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Portuguese superstar missed all of United's preseason tour of Asia and Australia, citing 'family issues' for his absence.

However, reports claimed Ronaldo wants to leave the club this season in order to play in the Champions League.

Despite the noise Ronaldo played the first 45 minutes in Erik ten Hag's first game in charge at Old Trafford.

The 37-year-old had one chance for the game but skied his attempt over the bar.

It was Amad who would score United's only goal of the game before Rayo hit back through Alvaro Garcia Rivera.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ronaldo and fellow Portugal international Diogo Dalot were pictured leaving the stadium around the 80th-minute mark of the friendly.

A fan attempted to jump the barrier and embrace Ronaldo before security intervened.

The club refused to comment on whether Ronaldo's premature exit was sanctioned by ten Hag.

United play their first game of the Premier League season against Brighton at Old Trafford this Sunday.
