Roma unhappy with contract demands of Tottenham defender Vertonghen

Roma are unhappy with the personal demands of Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen.

The Belgium international is off contract in June.

TMW says there was informal contact between the parties but the player's wage demands frightened Roma.

It claims Vertonghen was seeking over £2.7m (€3m) a season, which is over £50,000 a week.

The Giallorossi are looking to stick to a strict salary cap and will only allow a few exceptions to exceed an annual wage of £2.2m (€2.5m) a season.
