Roma remain in hunt for Tottenham defender Alderweireld

Roma remain in the hunt for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.

The Daily Mail says Roma are still in the hunt for Alderweireld - but look set to pay more than they wanted after his £25million release clause expired.

It has been reported by a number of publications in Italy that Spurs have jacked the price up for their centre back, and are now asking for a fee around €40m (£37m).

Roma have been keen on a deal for the Belgian defender for some time, but have missed out on swooping for him before his release clause expired last week.

Now Spurs are said to be keen to cash in and want another £12m on top of the fee they would have received had they sold him earlier in the window.
