Roma ready to rescue Shevchenko from Chelsea

Roma are ready to move for Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Roma will sign Shevchenko should Manchester United come in with a major offer for Mirko Vucinic.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti is a big fan of the Ukraine international striker, who won the Ballon d'Or in 2004.

Sheva would be prepared to take a considerable pay cut to join Roma, who have some fairly hefty financial difficulties.
