Roma are ready to make an offer for AS Monaco midfielder Jeremy Menez.

Giallorossi management see the versatile Menez as a cut-price alternative to Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu and believe they can land the France international for £6 million.

Controcampo says Menez has been a long-term target for both Roma and Inter Milan, but the Italian champs have cooled their interest this summer following the arrival of new coach Jose Mourinho.
