Roma midfielder Cristante hopes Gent win sparks revival

Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante hopes victory over Gent is a sign they're rediscovering some winning form.

Roma won 1-0 thanks to Carles Perez in the first-leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie.

“The coach has his ideas and we are trying to put them into action as well as we can. When we defend too deep, it becomes more difficult to play his style, so we need to push up more," Cristante told Sky Sport Italia.

“It's clear for all to see we're not in our best form right now. It was important to win, keep a clean sheet and bring home the victory, even if not as spectacular as we'd like.

“At this moment, it was important to find balance, not concede goals and ensure we were solid. We're not the first team to have this difficult period, we won't be the last.

“Sometimes situations pile up and create a block, but we can rebuild from this match, try to win as many games as possible to rebuild confidence and then get back to our usual playing style."
