Adem Ljajic was delighted to score for AS Roma in their 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
The midfielder struck against his former club, so chose not to celebrate.
"We knew Fiorentina are a great team with many talented players and are good at keeping the ball," the young Serbian told Sky Sport Italia.
"In the first half they were better than us, but we came out for the second half and were the only ones playing. It's just a shame we were only able to get one goal."
He added: "As I said before the game, I couldn't celebrate here. I have so many friends here, I had so many emotions and I still have a house in Florence. I really couldn't celebrate out of respect for the jersey I was proud to wear."
