Roma defender Mancini fined after Lazio flag-waving act

Roma defender Gianluca Mancini has been fined €5,000 for his celebrations after Sunday's derby win against Roma.

Mancini was the matchwinner on the day and celebrated by waving a giant flag emblazed with 'anti-Lazio' and another with a picture of a rat in Lazio colours. Mancini did his flag waving in front of the Curva Sud at Olimpico.

An official statement announced: "The Sports Judge Dr. Gerardo Mastrandrea, assisted by Stefania Ginesio and the AIA Representative Carlo Moretti, took the following decisions during the meeting of 9 April 2024:

"The Sports Judge, having received from the Federal Prosecutor the documentation requested by this Judge with CU no. 206 published today, including the documents of the investigation opened ex officio into the post-match events and in particular relating to the behavior of the footballer Gianluca Mancini (Soc. Roma); resolves to sanction the footballer Gianluca Mancini (Soc. Roma) with a fine of €5,000.00 for having waved an offensive banner towards the opposing team's fans during the post-match celebrations under his own stadium."
