Roma coach Garcia explains hooking angry Totti

AS Roma boss Rudi Garcia played down Francesco Totti's anger at being substituted during their victory over Torino.

The Giallorossi ran out 3-0 winners.

Garcia explained: "He's my best player and I don't want him to get injured. In my view it was right to ensure he's rested. He would be suspended against Atalanta anyway, but the fact we have him for the six big games in a row is great news for us. I explained that to him in the locker room and it was fine.

"We have 15 days out now and hope we can have some players back from the treatment room. I knew I had to make changes against Bayern, as they tend to have 70 per cent possession in every game.

"This squad has intelligent players who can adapt to various tactics even without that much time to prepare. We could've done better defensively in Munich, but we know that we can change system when needed.

"We ran a risk in the first leg and we paid for it. In any case, I want to point out that Roma are still in the running for every target this season."
