Roma coach Fonseca always confident overcoming SPAL

AS Roma coach Paulo Fonseca says he always was confident of victory over SPAL despite going behind.

Roma won 3-1, despite Andrea Petagna's penalty putting SPAL 1-0 up before half-time, but Diego Perotti's penalty, Lorenzo Pellegrini's deflected strike and a Henrikh Mkhitaryan tap-in turned it around.

“I think it was a good first half, even if we wasted a lot of chances, because we played with pace and intensity. It wasn't right that we were trailing at the break," the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“After the restart, the team created more opportunities and ultimately earned the victory. I think all the lads showed the right attitude. This is the team spirit we must always play with.

“The players know that the most important thing for me is courage and attitude. Anyone who plays for Roma must be ambitious and courageous, we have to always go for the victory."

He added: “It'll be very positive when we have all the players available. It's better for me to have some choices rather than the current situation and the competition for places will also be healthy."
