Roma chief Gianpaolo Montali says a deal for Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso will depend on the sale of Julio Baptista.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is also chasing the Argentina international and can afford to meet Inter's asking price.
"Once we transfer Baptista, we will have the money to buy Burdisso," said Montali.
Olympiakos have been linked with Baptista and are also interested in Roma goalkeeper Alexandre Doni and fullback Cicinho.
