Roma captain Totti "worried" after new injury setback

Roma captain Francesco Totti may face surgery after injuring an anterior cruciate ligament in yesterday's 1-1 draw with Livorno.

"I felt a crack. I'm a bit worried," said Totti as he left the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome. "What do I think about the result? I don't know. Frankly I'm more worried about my leg right now."

Roma medical chief Mario Brozzi said: "Francesco sustained this trauma to the knee and I looked at it the first time, but it was just a bruise and he chose to play on.

"After a few minutes he hurt himself when kicking the ball and so we decided to immediately take him off.

"The tests show a lesion to the anterior cruciate ligament. Tomorrow we will decide on the strategy, but his season is over."
