AS Roma are threatening to wreck Inter Milan's hopes of tying Samir Handanovic to a new contract.

The goalkeeper's current deal runs to 2016 and he has been discussing new terms with Inter since last summer.

But with no agreement in sight, Roma have stepped in.

Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio says Roma chief Walter Sabatini has placed himself in the middle of negotiations and is hoping to convince Inter to sell this summer.

Roma are in the market for a new keeper, with extensive European experience and Handanovic fits the bill.
