AS Roma have announced the appointment of Vincenzo Montella as new coach.

Montella replaces Claudio Ranieri, who resigned on Sunday following defeat to Genoa.

The 36 year-old has been promoted from his job working with Roma's Under-14s.

Montella takes over on an interim basis. He is charged with ensuring that Roma finish the season strongly.

The Giallorossi have lost their last four games in a row and currently lie eighth in the standings.
