Rodwell not using Western Sydney Wanderers as a holiday: My best years ahead of me

Former England star Jack Rodwell insists he is not on holiday in Australia as he joins A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers.

Rodwell was once seen as one of the brightest midfield prospects in English football, but injuries derailed his career significantly.

Now 30, Rodwell is playing in the A-League, having come off the bench for a 13-minute debut in a 0-0 draw against Sydney FC on Saturday.

"I'm 30 years old and I still feel like that I've got the best years ahead of me," Rodwell told the club's website after the game.

"That's why I came here, I didn't come here to come on holiday. I'm here to give it my all.

"We've got a great team here, great manager so let's see what we can do."
