Brendan Rodgers has praised captain Steven Gerrard after he scored his 184th Liverpool goal on the weekend.
The 34-year old midfielder headed home in the 87th minute in the 2-1 win over QPR on Saturday to move ahead of Robbie Fowler to fifth spot on the all-time Reds scoring charts.
Gerrard's is achievement is even more remarkable given that he has scored all his goals as a midfielder.
Rodgers said: "Well, we know the standard and the status here of Robbie and the sheer talent he was in terms of goals.
"So to pass that shows just what an achievement it is for Steven. That's something he has done throughout his career."
Gerrard, who will leave the Merseyside club this summer to join LA Galaxy, now sits behind Billy Liddell (228 goals), Gordon Hodgson (241), Roger Hunt (286) and Ian Rush (346) on Liverpool's goals chart.
