Rodgers considers Sterling for Liverpool striker role

Brendan Rodgers suggests he could turn to Raheem Sterling to be Liverpool's striker in upcoming matches.

The Reds are struggling to find a consistent goalscorer this season following the summer departure of Luis Suarez and the thigh injury suffered by Daniel Sturridge in early September.

£16million signing Mario Balotelli has contributed just one goal since arriving from AC Milan in August which has prompted Rodgers to suggest that talented winger Sterling could be used up front against Hull City this weekend.

"He's a very talented young player, Raheem," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He's played as a striker as a youngster so he understands that position well. It's something I can consider in the future."

Sterling leads Liverpool's scoring charts this season with a total of three goals in 12 appearances all of which have come in the Premier League.
