Celtic winger James Forrest has revealed that a chat with manager Brendan Rodgers convinced him to commit his future to the club.
The 25-year-old had previously turned down an opportunity to sign a new deal with the Hoops and intended to leave the club in January 2017 as a free agent.
However, on Wednesday he committed his future to the Scottish giants by signing a new three-year deal.
Forrest said: "I had a chat with the manager in the off-season and as soon as we came back in pre-season he said, 'Show me what you've got'.
"I made it clear I wanted to stay here and I'm glad it's done now and I can focus on playing.
"I've got a bit of experience now and I want to kick on and play as many games as I can for this club.
"I've been here since the age of nine. It's all I know and it's one of the biggest clubs in the world, so I'm delighted to sign here again.
"From day one it's been really positive and the manager's had a good impact on all the boys.
"I think it has shown in a lot of our good performances so far."
Forrest put pen to paper 24 hours after teammate Tom Rogic did likewise on a new deal that ties him to Celtic until 2019
