Rodgers: Beating Man City an iconic day for Swansea

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers believes victory over Manchester City was one of the club's greatest days.

After the shock win the 39-year-old boss heaped praise on his side.

"Our players were giants today," said Rodgers. "I don't want to disrespect Manchester City in any way they're on a great project and they're moving forward with it and they're going to be up there challenging until the very end.

"People like Garry Monk and those guys epitomise what this group is about. We have a lot of talent in the team but it's very much based around the team spirit and hard work and I think you saw all of that today.

"To keep our 11th clean sheet [of the season] shows that we weren't just good with the ball but good without it too.

"It was a heroic day for the players and an iconic day for the club. To beat a club like Manchester City is arguably one of the biggest ones you can have but for us the focus continues, the ambition continues and the hard work continues. "
