Robinho told to stay by Man City

Robinho will not be able to join Brazilian club Santos permanently after Manchester City did not give him permission to do so. The 26-year old Brazilian wants out of Eastlands after enjoying the second half of last season in his homeland but for now will be forced to return to the club and prepare for the 2010/11 season.

"I don't know if the loan will be extended," said City boss Roberto Mancini.

"We have heard nothing from Santos and Robinho will return to Manchester.

"If everything is okay, Robinho will be back before the season and if he is ready to play, he could go straight in against Tottenham."
