Barcelona captain Carles Puyol says the club does not need Manchester City striker Robinho.
The Brazil international has been closely linked with a move to the Catalan club but Puyol insists the Barcelona squad is strong enough without him and that he is not a required player.
"The Brazilian is a great player, but we already have very good players in that position like Thierry Henry and Andres Iniesta, who can also play on the wing," Puyol said.
"I think we have a comprehensive squad."
The fact that Puyol has made these comments and that City boss Mark Hughes insists Robinho is not for sale has conflicted previous reports suggesting it is a done deal.
