Former Norwich City striker Iwan Roberts would like to see Malky Mackay installed as new manager.
The Scot opened the way for a return to football by surprisingly dropping his legal claim for compensation against Cardiff on Friday.
Roberts told the Daily Star Sunday: "Malky would be a very good candidate. He knows the club, the owners and the area.
"He has good experience in the Championship.
"He knows what it takes to get out of the division and he won't stand for any nonsense.
"He won't be far off the top of the list."
