Micah Richards was pleased to wear the captain's armband for Manchester City's defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

The England defender told City's website: "It's nice to be named as captain, but I would rather the team have won.

"It was nice of the Manager to do that, but he could have picked anyone out of that 11. He knows that I give 100% in every game.

"Obviously it was a very proud moment for me, but it was a shame we lost in the way that we did."
