Jordan Rhodes fired ten-man Blackburn Rovers into the fourth round of the FA Cup after scoring the winner in the 1-2 victory over Newport County on Monday.
Rovers took the lead early on in the game through Ben Marshall's 8th-minute penalty but two minutes later, they were down to ten men when Chris Brown was given his marching orders.
League Two club Newport crawled their way back into the game through skipper Mark Byrne's superb strike 15 minutes before half-time.
However, the Welsh team couldn't complete their fightback as they bowed out to half-time substitute Rhodes' 75th-minute strike.
Rovers will now travel to Oxford United in the fourth round of the cup.
