A move to Barcelona for Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany was never going to happen, it has been revealed.
El Mundo Deportivo says Barca made a serious move for the Belgian in 2012 as they sought a new centre-half signing.
Some on the board wanted PSG defender Thiago Silva, then of AC Milan, but is was agreed to make a move for Kompany.
However, talks never reached a serious stage due to the difficult relationship between Barca sports director Andoni Zubizarreta and Kompany's agent, Jacques Liechtenstein.
