REVEALED: Why Chelsea board so reluctant to meet Rudiger contract demands

Chelsea are concerned Toni Rudiger's new contract demands could upset the dressing room.

The 28-year-old is requesting a minimum salary of £200k-a-week and it is believed Chelsea's latest offer fell £60k-a-week shy of Rudiger's demands.

The Telegraph says t the Blues would be willing to increase their original offer but they are aware that being held to ransom could lead to a dressing-room revolt at Stamford Bridge.

Seasoned professionals Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva are both yet to renew their deals at the west London club while Andreas Christensen has already rejected two contract extensions.

And Chelsea officials are concerned that surrendering to Rudiger's demands would see set a poor precedent for future renewals with the rest of the squad.

As well as trying to tie down Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Christensen and Silva, Tuchel is expected to hand out new deals to Mason Mount and Reece James at the end of the campaign to stave off interest from elsewhere.
