Estaban Cambiasso turned down an approach from Watford before their appointment of Nigel Pearson as new manager, it has been revealed.
Former Leicester City boss Pearson was named Hornets manager to the end of the season on Friday.
Calciomercato.com says before the Pearson agreement, Watford made a move for Cambiasso, who had a spell in England with Leicester.
Currently a fee agent, Cambiasso was most recently co-head coach of the Colombian national team.
Despite being flattered by the approach, the Argentine chose to turn down Watford's enquiry.
