Newcastle United have three young prospects on their summer shopping list.
The Evening Chronicle says it's understood United have three very promising youngsters on their radar: Ipswich Town pair Flynn Downes (a promising England under-20 midfielder) and centre-back Luke Woolfenden, along with Hearts' excellent teenager Aaron Hickey. The 17-year-old has played 22 times in the SPL this season.
Newcastle have watched Hickey several times this season and would be interested in adding him to their first team squad.
Woolfenden, well known to under-23s boss Chris Hogg, is another defender who was watched by Newcastle before they put their recruitment team on furlough.
The promising Downes is being looked at by Arsenal and Ipswich were quoting teams £7million - but the COVID19 crisis is likely to see a steep reduction in prices among EFL clubs. Newcastle could hope to land the best of EFL talent for around half that, according to sources familiar with the situation.
