Manchester City made an attempt for PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi last summer.

Matuidi was part of PSG's team for last night's Champions League triumph at Chelsea.

L'Equipe says City made a mega bucks move for Matuidi with his contract due to expire last June.

City had offered the midfielder a four-year deal worth a massive €31 million. They were also willing to pay him a signing on fee worth €4.5 million.

However, despite a staggering €35.5 million on the table, Matuidi decided to stay in Paris and renew his deal with PSG.
