Newcastle United could've signed Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey for a bargain basement fee.
The Sunday Express says Ramsey was turned down by Newcastle United - who refused to pay a £500,000 fee for the Welshman.
It's a decision which still rankles with Newcastle's Wales scout at the time, Neil Bartholomew.
On his recommendation Newcastle flew the 15-year-old, who had been with Cardiff City since he was eight, up to the North East with his parents on a couple of occasions.
A Newcastle source confirmed: "The annoying thing is that the young lad was keen to sign and it would only have cost £500,000. Look at what he must be worth now.
"Our Welsh scout Neil Bartholomew kept on raving about him. You can imagine how hurt he has been at the move not happening with Newcastle."
