Revealed: Kolasinac accepts over 50% cut on Arsenal wages to join Schalke

Sead Kolasinac has accepted a greater than 50 per cent pay-cut to return to Schalke.

The Arsenal fullback has signed for Schalke on-loan to the end of this season.

On €9m-a-year at Arsenal, Kolasinac will earn €2m from his six months with S04, where he is expected to sign permanently - if they stay up, reports BILD via Fussball Transfers.

Since his move was confirmed, there have been calls for Kolasinac to replace Omar Mascarell as captain at S04.

However, it's been agreed for the Spaniard to hold onto the armband so to avoid heightened expectations around Kolasinac's return.

This season with Arsenal, the left-back managed nine appearances under manager Mikel Arteta - including just once in the Premier League. He has a contract with the Gunners to 2022.

Still only 27, the left back managed 123 appearances for Schalke in his first time with the club, scoring four goals.
