Tottenham striker Harry Kane wrecked a move to Arsenal for Crystal Palace defender Scott Dann, it has been revealed.
The Mirror says former Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp revealed he arranged on a behind-closed-doors friendly with Birmingham in 2011.
Arsenal were at the time keen on signing Dann - now at Crystal Palace - and their chief scout Steve Rowley asked to come along and make a final check on the centre-back before deciding whether to make a bid.
But striker Kane scored four goals, Rowley and the Gunners' former assistant boss Pat Rice went away and never signed Dann, despite being widely linked with a summer move for the defender.
Arsenal ended up signing Per Mertesacker instead.
