REVEALED: Gundogan was willing to stick with Man City

Ikay Gundogan was willing to stay with Manchester City this season.

The former City captain left the Treble winners for Barcelona over the summer after coming off contract in June.

Sport says, however, that Gundogan was open to extending his stay with City.

It's suggested City didn't make a move to discuss new terms until the World Cup in December. Gundogan made it clear he was willing to stay.

The veteran was seeking a two-year contract, while City were only offering a 12-month agreement.

The two parties remained in their position to the end of the season, with Gundogan eventually committing to Barca.
