REVEALED: Chelsea sought to sell Christian Pulisic in January

Chelsea sought to sell Christian Pulisic in January, it has been revealed.

Pulisic picked up a knee injury just five days into 2023 and hasn't played for Chelsea since then - having missed nine games.

To complicate things, Chelsea went out this January and signed Ukrainian wunderkind Mykhailo Mudryk - who plays in the same position.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking on CBS's House of Champions podcast, the plan was for Pulisic to leave Stamford Bridge this January - but the injury complicated things.

"In my opinion is that at the end of the season they will have to make a decision on Pulisic and I think he has a chance to go," Romano said.

"It's for Pulisic, for Ziyech, I think there will be many players to leave Chelsea or to try to find a solution because Chelsea want imported money - they are not accepting loan deals.

"And this is a point also for Pulisic - they have to find the right solutions, right proposal.

"About the rumours: I think we had millions of rumours around Pulisic. We spoke about Juventus, Milan, Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, Man United, we had many, many stories about him.

"But, then you need someone to put 35, 40, 45million [dollars] on the table for Pulisic and it didn't happen at this stage.

"So we have to wait. Also, the injury was not helping because my feeling - from what I understand is that they were prepared to let him go in January before the injury.

"The plan was Mudryk in, Pulisic out and from what I understand then, because of the injury, it didn't happen so now they're trying to protect the player.

"Let's see at the end of the season. I think at the end of the season, at Chelsea there could be many outgoings, many players on the move and Pulisic can be one of them."
